sue.. short for suzie which is short for suzanne…
#and i swear, in that moment #all our hearts broke #this line was killer #from the way it was said #with such humility #to the slight drop of the smile and the raising of eyebrows #we see in one line that for all the comedic relief #that this character is #that she is still a person #a person with a heart and with feelings #when I watched this scene even I felt ashamed of myself #for thinking ‘oh just another crazy’ #but sue has found this special place in my feels #and just yeah #kudos
I’ve loved sue from the beginning. I really ache for her. Sometimes my over concern with others feelings helps me relate to characters others write off. I’m glad they are reminding us she’s human.
this is why orange is the new black is doing amazing things. they present this for the entire season as if it’s something entirely normalized and entirely acceptable, and then hit you over the head with the scene where she’s listening to the radio broadcast and sobbing, and this beautiful moment, and you know, suddenly, that you and everyone else were in the wrong in judging her, and maybe that’s a lesson for you not to do that in the real world, too.
i’ve loved sue from the start, too. and i love that my understanding of her is deepened not only by the mere presence of uzo aduba’s acting, but also the way the writing reflects her defenses against people’s reactions to her, and what happens when they drop. i think that’s something that anyone struggling with a mental illness can relate to.
